Sue's Cake Monday

Sue has made a toffee apple cake..

She made it by mixing dark sugar, eggs and then whisk until thick. She then added oil slowly and stirred in apple. Mix in flour baking powder and "spices" then bake in the oven. White chocolate, butter, cream cheese, yoghurt were mixed and put together to make the filling.

Overall everyone thought Sue's cake was brilliant. The cake was super tasty, nice and moist and the perfect texture.

Cake Monday (Rhys)

Vegan cookie dough brownie cake

After a delay in making the cakes due to illness, Rhys is back with his vegan cookie dough/brownie cake....

The brownie layer was made by mixing "brownie flour", baking powder, sugar, banana and water (egg substitute). The Cookie dough layer was made by mixing "cream cocunut sugar" and molasses, water, flour & chocolate chips. Rhys then froze and assembled the layers and then finished by melting chocolate orange over the top.

Scores

Sue - tasted "fine" - too squidgy. VERY RICH 7

Tom - Looked very good, vegan, 8

Adam - Very good - healthy, vegan, minus points for late doing it 8

Kirsty - Minus points for being Late, bit simple but tasted good, not a lot of baking 7

Kristian - Tasted good but super super rich 7

Jamie - Looked good, very sweet, "not sure what it is", 7

Steph - 8

Overall 7.4

Time for cake Monday again and this time its Tom's turn....

Time for cake Monday again and this time its Tom's turn....

Tom had a go at making a carrot cake. He started by making the icing - used cinnamon and vanilla extract. For the cake... He added eggs, "lots of butter", ginger and walnuts to a bowl and whisked then cooked.

Overall everyone liked the cake, some thought it was well cooked.... others thought it was burnt... It was quite light and tasted really good. Adam thought it was lacking some "specialist decoration" to take it to the next level.

Overall score 7.8

Cake Monday

Cake Monday!

Kirsty had a go at making a victoria sponge and it was pretty good! She made it by adding eggs, butter, sugar, flour and vanilla and then whisking together. Pour the mix into two tins and then bake. Leave it to cool then whip the butter and jam, spread it and then sandwich together.

Average score: 8 (highest score yet).

Everyone thought Kirsty's cake was really good and the scores reflected that; it was moist, had lots of flavour and looked nice as well. 8's across the board!

Cake Monday - April

Much to his dislike, it was Adam's turn to have a go

Was pretty disappointed he didn't make a pie - he had a go at making a "healthy cake".
To make this cake, Adam blended dark chocolate and coco powder then added raising agent. He then added eggs, cashew butter, dates or figs (he couldn't remember which) and Almond milk. This was then cooked in the oven.

It was supposedly meant to be eaten warm, but we ate it cold instead.

It was a healthy cake (including the raspberries on top) but some thought it was a bit too rich. Good use of substitute ingredients (cashew butter). Generally everyone thought it tasted nice but thought the coco powder on top made it "dusty" and a bit dry,

Average score: 6.7

Trip to Berlin

Beers on the first night

After the first night, (with some feeling very hungover) we saw what Berlin had to offer - including the world renowned Yaam bar

The Riddler in his Yaam van

Drinks on the second night

The flight home
Brilliant trip, lots of good food (and beer).

Cake Monday is BACK!!

After a short break... Cake Monday is back and Steph was the first to step up.

To make this cake, Steph melted butter/syrup in a hot pan and then melted marsbars. She then added rice crispies and pressed into a tin for 1 1/2 hours. A bar of white chocolate was then melted and a glass was used to make the shapes - these were then left to set and were stuck on top of the cake.

The Verdict:
The cake was simple, but it did taste very good! Despite being simple, it did take a lot of time to complete.. so points for dedication. The Enterprise logo was a good touch as well.
